Looking to identify if this is British or American.

Date of manufacture 1941

Stampings : "HBH 41" "HR II"

Chin strap bail rivet

HbH looks to be a British mfg but I read only Americans used a rivet chin strap bail.

Also looks like the inside was repainted with a brush at some point to a kahki / brown

^ Both British and Canadian helmets had the lugs rivited. Certainly not Canadian from one of the three manufactures of helmet bodies (Aluminum Goods Company AG/C Canadian Lamp Company CL/C and General Steelworks GSW. I lean towards it being American as the lugs do not have clipped corners which was a thing seen on British and CDN helmets but other may have better input on where it is from.
