Recently acquired this revolver. Any help providing some information would help greatly. More particularly the exact caliber (Doesn't look like 38 special, looks like 38 S&W, are there any other names for it, etc). And year made would be neat to know, looks like just patent data. And any explanations of the markings?

From the registration:
Smith & Wesson
Hand Ejector 38 Military & Police Victory Model
Serial - 922704

I think that technically, to be a Victory Model, the serial number should have a "V" prefix.
With the US Ordnance flaming bomb, and the C/l\ Canadian property make, it a S&W supplied to Canada by the US early in WW2. Does it have a "US Property" stamp on the top strap?

No US Property markings found

That's a 38 S&W cartridge that revolver fires.

If it was indeed a Victory model, I believe it would have a V prefix in the serial number.

It looks like that gun was supplied to the Canadian government sometime before 1942 ( IIRC that's when S&W started labeling that pistol as the Victory model during WWII)

Remington and Winchester produce .38 S&W ammo, (the Win is nickel plated), and Starline makes .38 S&W brass.
I use 2.2gr W231 under Omaproducts 160gr .38 Super RN, and find it's very accurate at 25 yds, even with those pitiful sights. :D

"WB" stamp = Waldemar Broberg. Inspector of early WWII era US, usually GI issue, handguns. You will sometimes see the "WB" inspector initials in a square box on the left side frame, just above the mag release button, on 1942 mfg Colt USGI 1911A1's.....
