Can someone identify this Lyman #48 Peep Sight?

It looks to me like maybe a very early model #48 for a pre-64 Winchester Model 70 or a Winchester 54.

Hole spacing seems to be 5/8 in.

Marked with patent date of "Lyman...1911"

On the back of the slide is stamped "A 62" and "W"

When the slide is removed, inside the slot, I see the base is stamped "D85"

Quite likely. Goes on the left side of the receiver which would be correct for a 70. Springfield, Mauser, Remington 30, etc., would go on the right side.
What is the hole spacing?

Hole spacing seems to be 5/8 in.

Also, on the back of the slide is stamped "A 62" and "W"

...and when the slide is removed, inside the slot, I see the base is stamped "D85" ...twice.

d85... as in diameter .85, an indication of the radius the piece is cut to?

interesting sight, like the pop-up small aperture

Many very early versions of various Lyman sights, #48, #35, etc. had this same tiny flip-up aperture sight. I am not sure how useful it is...it can accidentally get stuck about halfway up, blocking the main aperture, right when you might need to make a quick shot. However, it can be removed by taking out the miniature locking screw on the bottom right side of the main aperture. After a while Lyman stopped using it. Not sure the exact date when that happened.

Have a positive ID on the sight. Win. Models 70 and 54.
