I still say bang for buck the IDF 7.62mm NATO Mausers are the best Milsurps available.
I have one that's near mint. It's one of my favorite rifles I own period. Nazi German weapon obsession quality machined steel and wood, reliable as a gun gets, scary accurate, all the awesomeness of a well made Mauser action but in a nice widely common caliber that isn't a wonky expensive PITA to acquire.
I think I paid $550 shipped for it just 2 years ago. They are all over. They pop up at gun shows and EE all the time.
I find they are the most underappreciated and overlooked milsurps around in Canada for the low price, common non corrosive bulk and relatively affordable ammo, accuracy, reliability and just all around awesome history.
Don't worry about matching not matching. They all shoot the same. Bore and muzzle matter. You'll pay $500 for an excellent condition one mismatched and $800 + for a "RARE" EE add one and they both shoot the exact same if the bores are the same.
If you're a collector that may be worth the near double price. If you're like me and you own guns because you shoot them.....well do your own math.
Just my 2 cents on a rifle that holds a special spot in my heart lol. Get one in any condition with a decent bore brother, you wont be disappointed!
