I purchased this WWII ammo to complement my son's 45 Long Branch No. 4 Mk 1*.

The head stamp is 1943 DI Z. I believe this means it was manufactured in 43 by Dominion Industries and contains Z type powder what ever that is, please feel free to correct this or add more info if I am incorrect.

I do not know what the red tip on each bullet means? The bullet looks like a normal FMJ round. Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

Thanks all.

"Z" means it was loaded with nitrocellulose powder, instead of Cordite, and the red tip is one of the identifiers that was used to designate "tracer".

DI is Defence Industries a Crown corp operated by CIL Dominion ammo subsidiary. Made 2.8 billion rounds in WWII.
