I recently inherited an old ass Mossberg 146B .22 rifle. When I got it the bolt was already removed from the rifle, so I decided to go ahead and put it back in. When I went to do so, I noticed the bolt just didn't seem to want to go in at all. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that there is a little piece of metal/doohickey located inside the action that looks like this:
When I go to put the bolt back in the bolt appears to get caught by this weird growth:
It seems to prevent the bolt from moving any further. My question then becomes: I am simply doing something wrong, or is something wrong the rifle? Would anyone happen to know? Or is the bolt I have for the rifle the wrong one? Is there some way to fix it, or should I abandon all hope?
Here's a photo of the bolt in question:
Thanks!
