Well I decided to get more shooting in this year and I thought that maybe, IDPA may be the way to go. I'm curious to know if anyone in the Silverdale area is interested in IDPA?

I'm not posting to take names, however if a general consensus is reached and we decide to put something together, well all the better.

My focus this year will be on starting IDPA at EESA, but if Silverdale is hosting matches and I am free, I would definitely show up.

I've never been or even seen one of these events. I'm a member at Silverdale and would attend (as a spectator...I don't have my black badge)

Allan!

Well my background is in IPSC, so I'm a infant when it comes to IDPA.
However if we can get some folks together on a day and "hash" out a "club" level program, well I think its doable.

I think its generally frowned upon when a club hosts "IDPA" events without being affiliated. Unless of course you are going to affiliate then all the best :)

Well I'm not out to make any enemies that's for sure. I did a search on the Canadian site and I didn't find any operation in the Niagara area?
If we need/have to be affiliated then fine. However I'm just a "worker bee" and the management at Silverdale will have the final say.

Affiliation, Holster courses and Safety officer courses are very easily arranged by contacting the IDPA Canada and the Area Coordinator for your area. IDPA is more then willing to help get any club who wants to participate started. Maybe it would be possible to get a course together for EESA and Silverdale together?

Well this is me "thinking out loud" I have a good relationship with the folks at Silverdale, and I think they would support the idea. Combining the resources for both clubs make sense, and getting shooters out for the IDPA discipline is a "win, win". I will make some inquires at Silverdale and follow up. If you are a Silverdale member and are interested in IDPA, please let them know, and don't hesitate to mention this thread. I know that they hang out here.

Silverdale IDPA - Yes

There are occasional IDPA matches at the Dale -

However - There are 3 gun matches every Saturday on the new 2nd combat range.

You can shoot stages IPSC , IDPA , or TDSA style as a practice match.

We have steel and moving targets. $5 Target fee - IPSC targets and sometimes TDSA targets for a change.

If not holster certified you can shoot the stages from the low ready and compete with similar non qualified shooters.

PM me for info -

Who are you. I have never seen moving targets at Silverdale. I am there quite often and I have yet to see one. I am rarely there on the weeked though. Is Seth holding out on me:D

I have my black badge and am basically interested in IPSC, but IDPA sounds O.K.

What ever gets me shooting more. I actually want to by a new gun so maybe I would keep my M&P for IDPA. My wife is also showing interest in shooting as well:dancingbanana:

I am actually off this Saturday. I can be there in the A.M. if anybody wants to have a Pow wow.

Ken Soucie is the Area Contact for that region of Ontario and his contact information is listed on the IDPA Canada web site under Ontartio in the Provincial Section on the Home Page.

To clarify only affiated IDPA clubs are allowed to advertise and host IDPA club matches. Affiliation is not difficult and I am sure Ken will be more than happy to go over what is involved and what is required to affiliate. There are several clubs in the Windsor area that shoot IDPA and it might be worth a trip over their to see what IDPA is all about. Windsor Action Pistol has a very active program and is hosting a Safety Officer course soon. The dates are on our website.

Take Care

Bob
