IDPA / CDP in Quebec ?

IIDPA/CDP in Quebec

Never heard of any. IPSC and PPC are alive but heaven forbid if a club was to ask for IDPA matches to be added to its permit, the SQ would have a fit, claiming we are training for armed confrontations..

Idpa

There are currently no IDPA affiliated clubs east of Ontario. I do not know why exactly. I do not know how or why your CFO needs to be involved in your affiliation of IDPA or what restraints are placed on your clubs by your CFO's.

That being said, someone can pm me with the details. If there is ISPC going on in your provinces I cannot see why you couldn't shoot IDPA.

IDPA would welcome any new clubs that would like to join. And as an IDPA member, I would love to be able to compete in IDPA in other geographic regions of Canada.

Regards,

Greg

This is a quote from the webpage of CRAFM in Montreal.

CRAFM offers to shooters involved in disciplines such as IPSC, PPC, IDPA and Olympic Style Shooting an ideal practice environnement, and hosts competitions in many of those disciplines on a regular basis.

I guess you would have to call to see if they did only practice or competitions there. There are many Gunnutz who are members there, so I am sure one of them will chime in on this.

I'm a member at CRAFM and also a PPC shooter.
There is PPC pratices going on, but the CRAFM still hasn't held any PPC matches... only IPSC matches. I will call them today regarding IDPA activities and let you know.

And yes, i can believe the SQ and QC CFO can decide to turn down "dangerous" or "subversive" shooting activities in our beloved communist province.

I think I can speak for CRAFM when I say that unless a dozen or so people/members come forward with plans and proposals for IDPA matches and practice, then it will never take-off.

At pretty much every club, it is the volunteers that organize and run the matches, whether it be IPSC, IDPA, PPC or any other discipline. The clubs are simply locations providing the shooting space.

If you have an interest in IDPA, recruit like-minded individuals and propose your ideas to your local clubs. It's the only way. The PPC guys did it at CRAFM, and in the span of a few months, we became approved for PPC shooting by completely re-designing our baffle systems to allow for prone shooting. Ask and ye shall receive (if the demand, and effort, is there).

QPP restrict any movement toward the target and crossing the red line is forbidden, even for competition purpose, that is why we can't get the IDPA matches IMHO. Unless we can have scenario that will make you move from left to right and vice versa.

But, at the same time, I wont be surprise to heard about an unwritten reg that state that anything that can make you as good or better than a cop wont be allowed. Police in Quebec is a real close KLAN. and Institut National de Police teach them to be scared of people carrying and owning guns.

Given that IDPA is Defensive Pistol it shouldn't be to hard to develop scenarios that require moving either side to side or backwards. While we have scenarios that require moving forward, most should be designed for "Defensive" purposes and searching out BG's is offensive shooting not defensive.

Just a thought.

ps Seems to me it is time for the Feds to make regulations regarding furearms, shooting and ranges a "Federal" matter under the guize of "Homeland Security". That would end all the nonsense you guys in Quebec and Ontario have to endure. We wouldn't stand for it out west. More importantly we would more likely just ignore the regulation. Such are the attitudes of Westerners.
