I was wondering if there is any shooters in Eastern Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia that would be interested in IDPA?

My wife is from St. John, N.B. and we are planing a vacation there this year and if there is any interest and a facility to use, I would be more then happy to put on a Safety Officer course.

Please PM me with interest or ideas and we can start the ball rolling.

Also, if there are any Ontario clubs interested in doing so, also please PM me and we can arrange this.

We will be hosting an IDPA Safety Officer course at The Marksmen Club on Feb.21st, """CLASS IS NOW FULL""".

*Just a note for the SO course, this is not a holster qualification course, you must already be holster qualified in one of the major dicipline to attend this course. The only holster work in the SO course is the practical exam. Once you have been qualified as an SO, there is a course outline for a "new shooter orientation" that include holster qualification for those that do not have it*

Again, please PM me if you have any questions or are interested.

Thanks
Steve

well,..the emails are going around. We will have to see what time frames and interest there is..(which there is) for the maritimes.
I do know that CDP is taking place at Springfield range. I know that IPSC is active in this area (maritimes) very much so,..and CDP is starting to gain more interest. IDPA is also something I would like to see,..but not sure how that would fit in locally with the CDP matches already scheduled. Thanks for the emails and effort Steve.
Too be honest,..I would shoot any type of sport that allows me to do so in an active and fun atmosphere. More matches,....the better!!!! (IPSC-CDP-IDPA)

I talked with shooters today with regards to IDPA in NB and NS, we are going to make it happen as soon as possible.

One of those SO candidates in the classroom photo looks suspiciously young.;) (BTW he was well compensated for having to sit still and listen to us yak.)

Thanks for a great course, Steve. I reckon everybody had a great time, even the small one.:D

CDP is organized here in Canada by the CSSA.

Come on, Steve. CDP is organised (or something resembling it) by Dave Burke, the CSSA gets a cut of the money for printing the qualification on your card, just like it does for PPC shooters.

The most important difference (apart from actual organisation) is that IDPA are an international organisation meaning that you can compete and help run matches in other countries.

I understand what you are saying.

As for the costs that CDP and the CSSA charge, IDPA charges only for the membership and the club affiliation, there is no extra cost for courses. There may be a fee charged for the use of facilities or to cover instructors travel expenses, but that would be it and would be up to each individual club.

We will be running a new shooter orientation in the next 4-6 weeks, that is the IDPA holster qualification course. Anyone who is interested, please PM me.

Your ATT should cover all restricted ranges approved in the province of Ontario and any of the clubs that shoot or are IDPA affiliated, you could attend matches there it you are a member of IDPA.
