IDPA M&P Question

Howdy all,

Wanting to get into the IDPA game, but I'm struggling to find some info on start condition. I have an M&P9 VTAC, without a safety/decocker. How is this gun configured prior to holstering? I cannot chamber a round without cocking the striker, and I have no safety for cocked and locked.

Is this gun even eligible? Is it still SSP?

Do not want to go out and look like a total knob.

Cocked and locked is your start position. The safety is in the trigger, and making sure you keep your finger off that said trigger until your on target

On the command Load and make ready, insert the mag, rack the slide, top up the mag, or if you are using a Barney mag, remove and install a fully loaded mag (division capacity), and then holster. You will need to have 2 fully loaded mags on your person. On the signal draw and fire.

It can be used in SSP and ESP.

The M&P is eligible. In fact, it is one of the common pistols here. It is SSP legal. Same situation as most trigger safety guns, like the Glock and PPQ etc.

that's what im running. I miss the weight of a steel gun but not having to worry about a safety or decocking is sweet.
