Hello IDPA shooters,

Seems like there are a few different mag holders suitable for IDPA. I read the rules and may be mistaken but there doesnt seem to be a limit to how many mags you can carry as long as it can be concealed.

So I guess the first question is how many mags do most people carry for a regular IDPA stage? Question 2, what is your favorite brand and why? And last but not least is do you prefer single or double mag holders?

Looking to pick up a belt aswell, looking at a web gear belt as of right now, but always open to suggestions.

I don't have the opportunity to shoot idpa. .but have shot some cdp. I think the g code mag pouches are worth looking at. Everything i have got from them has been quality. Also...the solely canadian mag pouches might suit your needs.

Sorry buddy. Two mags max if the capacity is 8 rounds of greater. It is in the rule book. Aslo, you cant simple use any holster. There is a specification for holster also.

Caution. The stock CZ Shadow may be a wee bit heavy to be IDPA legal. Unloaded firearm with the heaviest magazine must weigh 43.00 oz (1219.0 grams) or LESS.

I will have to pull out my pistol and put it on a scale....I sure hope its not to heavy....

EDIT: according to the website the pistol is 38oz....no hopefully the mags are less then 5oz. Otherwise I wont be competing IDPA this summer as a second pistol is not in the cards right now.

The only reason I brought it up; I've heard of people swapping out the factory grips for aluminum grips to get it under 43.00 oz. Use an accurate scale. YMMV.

As stated, you need 4 mags total. I use a Bladetech mag holster to hold my two spares for my PPQ, or my Glock 17 when I'm nostalgic. Plus one in the gun, and my stripper goes into my pocket after I load up.

Since the ESP/SSP weight limits were raised in the last iteration of the rules, the stock Shadow should now be fine.

Thanks for all the information guys. Fairly new to shooting and even newer to IDPA. My range runs IDPA/IPSC practice wednesday nights starting in the next month or so and I will attend as much as I can.

What model of Bladetech do you have?

I run a Comp Tac for SSP and ESP with Blackhawk mag pouches, a Brewer Custom (out of New York) kydex with Blackhawk mag pouches for CDP and Ready Tactical holster and speedloader pouches for SSR.

I will have to look when I get home...it came with the pistol

Not to sound like to much of a dummy...what type of mag is the shadow mag considered? glock, standard 9mm single stack, 1911?
