IDPA Revolver in Alberta

I'm in the mood to do some old school double action revolver speed shooting. If I show up at a few Southern Alberta IDPA matches with a GP100 strapped to my side am I going to be the only grey haired old fart shooting an antique?
 
Nope.

There will be at least two other old farts shooting revo too...

(Sorry, I just couldn't resist!)

At any given match at MVMA there will be 2-4 other guys shooting SSR (Stock Service Revolver) and 2-4 guys shooting ESR (Enhanced Service Revolver). The Ruger falls into the SSR division.

While SSR/ESR aren't the biggest divisions, you won't be alone and you will have a good time.

Last year, the ATHL IDPA club held a match in July that was dedicated to the revolver and wheelgunners.

Hey I resemble that remark.:D You won't be alone. Shooting revolver in IDPA changes the dynamics of the sport significantly. Great fun. The GP-100 is a great shooter and you won't be alone. Great bunch of guys there and you will have fun.

Do you fellas have any recommendations as far as holsters and mag pouches go? I like the blade tech stuff for my autos and I see that they make a few revolver holsters. Any experience with these?

You certainly won't be alone shooting SSR, I have been for almost 2 years, There are a few of us that are enjoying our Revolvers and are having a blast.
I have a custom made Scott Penner Leather Holster and Speed Loader Holders, he does great work at very reasonable prices.

Mag pouches, DOH! I have a few more questions for you guys. Is the SRB the only Blade Tech holster that is IDPA legal and fits the gp100? Do you guys have any recommendations as to who might stock these in Canada? Can I run a fiber optic front sight in IDPA? Which speed loaders do you recommend?

I have one of these for my CZ's and I just might pick one up for my K frame. Leather holster with suede lining.

Very adjustable as well.

Hmm I'm no old fart like Jim S and Canuck44 .... I think a revolver will be fun for the 20th as well.... So what to play - powder puff with Jim, or play with red_magnum ...
