the beauty of the short chamber barrel conversion is that one can ream the chambr to suit bolt and barrel desired for use...... this has certain limitations and rifles with bolts that measure headspace exceeding 1.642" should not be considered optimum for this swap.
Most norcs in the 2007 vintage run 1.639- ish so should be okay but here is where maybe using that stashed away usgi would be preferred..... depending if you want your chamber to spec out at Nato or the tighter .308 (keep the norc bolt for nato and perhaps the usgi for .308 depth chamber.
99.9% of the newer 2009 vintage norcs and polys are running headspace in the 1.638" measurement according to what is coming across my bench. In my mind these are perfect candidates for installing a short chambered barrel using your existing bolt/receiver combo.
as a bit of a side track..... I had this very old receiver, chinese i think. It had nevr been assembled with parts, essentially it was brand new all around, not a take off, and had been sitting in my stash for a while. with it's un stamped/marked exterior and only a 4 digit number under the stock line, I was going to save it for a special build. Well, I couldn't wait and threaded up a recent import parts kit to it and had to lap the bolt into place..... which was very surprising to me. headspace after brief lapping..... 1.631" essentially a match chamber.....
the newer import parts seem to spec out a little better as far as bolt/barrel/receiver fit goes.
all said, I would use whatevr receiver you want of any of the import years.
these chambers on the barrels i am ordering have been requestd to be made .010" short
