If YOU could design a tactical stock, what would it look like?

The last couple of winters I have spent some time attempting to build myself a few rifle stocks. With the last one I built here: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1178797-My-composite-stock-Round-2

I have since built a plug and a mold for another stock. Unfortunately there is a steep learning curve and my mold release let me down, the mold is salvageable, so I can produce another plug from it and make another mold.
I am currently working on another plug for another stock. Once this plug is done, probably in the next few days. I intend on ordering materials to make a mold for this one and the one I did incorrectly.

So this leads me to another question. What shape do I want or would others want? I have shot a couple of different Mcmillan stocks quite a bit (A5, A2, and their 50 stock), a few other stocks, as well as a couple of chassis. Each one of them had something about it I personally didn't like, whether it was the palm swell, or the shape of the fore end. Or the grip to butt height in relation to the ground.

I am hoping to get some feedback about what others want, whether it's a lip on the fore end for a barricade stop, narrow fore end, wide fore end, thicker grip areas, tapered, or flat fore end, Butt hook? etc etc.

I would eventually like to start making stocks to sell on a small scale, however I am not even close to that yet.
Basically in all of that blathering on I am looking for inspiration or ideas for another project, that may become available for purchase at some point in time.

(No I am not the individual that Ian Robertson has been working with, and talking about. However Ian was very helpful in the past when I was working on my stock and I am hoping to put some of his ideas and techniques into play this winter/ spring)

Well everyone has different tastes but I'll chime in with a few things I look for in a stock.

First would be the grip angle, it needs to be completely vertical anything else feels uncomfortable.

Buttpad and cheek piece needs to be adjustable for height and there has to be some way to adjust the LOP. You can have the best stock on the market but it's worthless to me if I can't adjust it to my liking.

I use a bipod 90% of the time so a super wide fore end does nothing for me, a flat bottom with lots of places to mount a rail/flush cup/barricade stop is nice.

Are you planning on making stocks geared towards a specific kind of shooting? Or something like an A5 that can fill multiple roles?

My ideal stock would be a hybrid. Half composite, half chassis.

I would like a stock that is like a McMillan A5 up to the grip. I would like the grip to be fatter, like a Manners T4. It would have a mini-chassis that included the bottom metal, but the front of the bottom metal would have a longer, more aggressive barricade stop on the front of it that would have ears sticking out the sides so that I could press it against the barricade with my thumb. After the grip, it would transition to an aluminum skeletonized stock that had a hook like the A5/T4. It would have an adjustable cheek riser that is removable for cleaning. I would be able to adjust it's length of pull on the fly like a collapsible AR carbine stock, but it would be more ridgid. The cheek rest would move with it. The skeletonized stock would have features on it that would allow me to mount steel weights to it to balance the rifle. These would be flush with the sides when mounted. The very front of the stock would have a slender, long feature that would allow the barrel to be put through a small opening and supported without touching the edges of the opening.

What I hate is pistol grips. Maybe the solution is a simple chassis with composite panes for the grips, similar in concept to the AICS chassis. No one is doing that. But, many people dislike a pistol grip on a boltgun. PRB stats show the preference towards traditional stocks. I think its mainly for this reason. A chassis that has the feel of a composite stock would be popular, I beleive.

Thanks for the opinions.

I am not entirely sure exactly what I want to build as far as a do everything, or a specialized PRS ish stock.
I have an idea for an on the fly LOP adjustment for a composite stock, as well as an idea for a QD barricade stop.

I too am not a fan of pistol grips on bolt guns, just not my thing.

Kombayotch. How small of an opening are you sticking the barrels through that you need a different support? Basically a parker hale bipod stud would work would it not? I am not familiar with the Manners T4, do you have an approx. grip width? closer to 2" across?

They are often 3-3.5" in height in various shapes. They are intentionally meant to confuse because many people will think you can't shoot through them because they block the top half of the scope, but you can. Any stud that is below the botton line of the stock would not work. You would also be able to get the front of the stock into the opening if that worked, which would negate its need.

Manners T4 and McMillan A5 grips feel almost identical. A5 grip is 1.900" wide, T4 is 2.040" wide. The T4 is a bit fatter and more bulbus. Feels better to me, fills my palm better.

Weights for balancing would work like the GPS on an MFT BUS Battlelink stock, but would take up more of the stock (allow bigger weights). Different thicknesses of plates would allow different weights to be selected.
