I saw this thread on another forum and it got some interesting replys. If you had $10,000 to spend on clay shooting how would you spend it? I think I'd have to get another Remington 3200. There's a like new Competition grade 30" O/U, 34" unsingle combo with case I saw at a shop in Ohio that I'd have to pick up so that would be $3000. Then I'd blow another $4000 on some factory ammo, most likely Remington STS and Nitro's and the other $3000 I blow on traveling around to shoot off the $3000 I spent on ammo....:D.

What about you?

Tim

I would probably pick up that DB-81 combo that is sitting at Jaquas and use what was left to shoot every event at this years Grand in Sparta!

If I had a $10,000.00 budget I'd get a nice Spanish SxS (that money won't buy me a Piotti or Purdey) and try a few of the "vintager's" type shoots. There would be money left over so I think I'd travel and try as many different quality clays courses as I could afford. Fun to dream about stuff like this.

I already own my two clay target guns of choice so if I had $10,000 to spend I'd travel to England this summer, rent a car and shoot clays at various shooting grounds until the money ran out.

I would buy a Perazzi MX8 trap( used to stay within the limit) or a Perazzi MX15 or maybe a used MX 2000 unsingle combo.

I agree with Claybuster, only I'll go down to the states and shoot at some of the fancy sporting clays ranges with the 5 star accomodations until the money runs out or the wife nags me to do something else.

Political campaign donation to CPC so I could own my shotties next year! Or, do you think if they get the handguns, out shotties will be far behind??

12, 16 and 20 guage Auto-5's in all configurations(lightweight, standard and magnum)that'd be about $5000, split the rest half and half between shells and shooting, the range is only 10 minutes, wouldn't bother travelling, i like mine just fine

i'd like one of the new Blaser F3s, and lotsa shells.... and get around to complete my ATF Form6 to take my shottie south for some shootin

Some interesting answers. On another forum where this was asked (US based) I'll say that every other answer was "put it as a down payment on a Krieghoff, Kolar, Lutjic" or some other very expensive gun. Some said travel but not many, and very few mentioned buying a whack of shells.
I wonder if the differences in replys have to do with the American outlook on shooting or just the individuals that replyed dont have as much worries about money as some of us?

The best money I ever spent on the game was taking lessons!! That's right lessons. You can take a day's lessons and it's worth a month at the range with 10 flats of shells!. Believe me guys/gal's, lessons may seem like a lot but it is the first thing that they do in Britian and Europe before they get guns and stuff. We take lesson's for everything else from driving to golf,if that's your thing, though why anybody would own golf clubs and not a shotgun is beyond me!, so why not this?.
When I go on holiday, whether down to the States or were ever I always try to take a day and go to a school .The most expensive part is giving the wife the money so she can go shopping and leave me alone!.
When I hear about a instructor coming near me, I try to scrape together the money to take a lesson or 2. Whether you shoot skeet and trap, five stand ,sporting ,or want to be a better wing shot. If you live were there are no instructor's then approach a good shooter and ask to pay for his time or shells to show you a few things. It's money well spent.
My 2 cent's ,you asked

I answered the question based on my current situation.

If you'd asked me five years ago the response would have been, "I'd buy a 32 inch Perazzi MX8 Sporting, custom stock with a double wood upgrade have the gun fitted with Briley thin-wall chokes."

Now that I have that gun, I would like to take it touring through the various shooting grounds in Old Blighty. I've shot West Wycombe and Northwoods (Holland and Holland) already but there are many more I'd like to try. Driving around England, through the twisting backroads, looking forward to the next cozy pub and nearby friendly shooting ground. I couldn't think of a finer way to spend 10k.;)

I wasn't implying or saying anything about you personaly Claybuster. I just thought it was strange at the number of replys on a US site that where more into haveing a nice gun rather than doing more shooting like most here.
Living so close to the US I see alot of Americans in various sports that are into how well they look while they are doing it not how well they are doing it. I guess thats where I was getting with the difference in answers.

No worries Tim I didn't take it personally at all. Everyone's at different places in the shooting sports and it's no wonder we have different desires and aspirations.

I'd give the money to my wife to go shopping... thus freeing me up to go shoot clays guilt free....

Personally, I am content with the volume of shooting I do (I doubt I could shoot much more over the summer), and would rather upgrade the equipment. That said, I could use the money and pick some 'more prestigeous' shoots, but all things being equal, my preference is the high end gun.

Brad.

If the fantasy is that "the $ 10,000 must be spent", then probably 2/3rds on as many Federal papers as I could get ... and the balance on shoot registrations and travel to get there. The DT10 would get a good work-out and I'd certainly look forward to it !

Ummmm, Ok maybe we need to see picture of this gun becasue it sounds awesome. As I stated I would buy this gun in a trap model 32" and Briley extended/ported spectrum chokes.

And while on the subject of ten grand it would be nice to a pic of the DT10 there Beretta boy. I am sure it is awesome as well.
