If you had to choose... 91/30 or SVT-40

Ok.. I realize not everyone can answer this question..... but for those of you who have fired or own both... If you could only keep one.... what would you choose.. and why?

Mosin because its less prone to break, shoots better in most cases and I can fix bayonet without spending more that I did on the rifle on the bayo.

there is not much moving parts to wear out (or clean) on a Mosin.

The real question is witch do I get first?
They are both awesome but if your new to milsurps it couldn't hurt to start with a mosin, svt can be tricky at first.

My sentiments exactly. Don't shoot my SVT nearly as much either because she destroys brass(I reload)but I'll be having her out more often this summer at the outdoor range using surplus steel cased ammo.

I plan on owning both but recently bought an SVT-40 first becuase I figured the Mosins'll be easy to find and the SVT-40's might start drying up. Wrong! Other way around. Now I can't find a decently priced (i.e. cheap) Mosin anywhere but the SVT-40's are still available.

Westrifle has another container on route, full of Mosins and SKS. Be patient, you will see another batch of very nice Mosins on the market place soon.

Likely you will use less ammo with the mosin. This will save you $$$. Then you could buy the SVT40 with the money you saved.

My heart is with the SVT,i use it more.From pratical stand point,the Mosin is better,reliable as a hammer,not much can go wrong with a Mosin.My 2 cents,

I went with the Mosin over the SVT40 since I have a couple SKS's for cheap semi auto fun. I'm also more into old bolt actions so the mosin is more fun to shoot since I like working it's action.

If you reload finding your brass will be easier with the Mosin.

Love my M44 and try and shoot it every time I got out shooting. Waiting for the arrival of my 1st SVT, with excitement and trepidation! I suspect these will reproduce themselves in the gun cabinet just like my SVT's will!!! I guess that means I need to buy another cabinet!!
