While 6.5x55 Swedish is the better medium game cartridge but 280 Remington is the better all round hunting cartridge.
In fact, 6.5x55 is not popular in North American because 270 Winchester (almost identical to 280 Remington) is such a better all round hunting cartridge.

The .270 is more popular because as an American cartridge, it was chambered in American rifles which are popular on this continent. Also consider the fact that fudds can by ammo for it at Walmart. It has absolutely nothing to do with how "good" it is. Not knocking the .270, but it is hardly "such a better all round hunting cartridge."

i had a 270 ......... i turned it into a 9.3x62

the 6.5x55 is just plain ###y .....

but serioulsy , as long as it is accurate and goes bag when you pull the trigger , what is the big deal ?
