I dont know if this should be in this forum, or the other shotgun one, but my purpose is hunting, so its here.

Anyone cut the barrels on their Brazilian sidebyside?

if so, how well are the barrels regulated at the length you left them.

I am trying to decide if I should cut down my 28" 20ga barrel to 22-24"

its just easier for a camp/grouse gun.. than a 28"

Also interested in 12ga if they are different, because my Dad has one, and was thinking of bear defense... I told him to wait until I asked the "pro's" opinion.

If they arent going to shoot straight with a hacked barrel, then i will just get a cooey to cut down......... and Dad will probably get a cheap pump

I'd get one of the IGA/Stoeger coach guns, they can be had for about $450.
Or pick up a Yildiz folding .410 from Prophet River for $209.

I have a buddy who cut off his sxs 12 ga, it's a CIL but I believe it's a Boiti.
It shoots straight, but it's only good for really close shots due to the lack of any chokes.

Personally I don't like the idea of limiting myself with open cylinders on a chicken gun, I like a full choke for that.

Once you cut 'em off you can't put it back, but if you buy a short gun and don't like it, it will be easier to sell an unaltered gun than one with chopped barrels.
