Has anyone used or own any scope with an illuminated reticle? If so, do the batteries freeze up in them and how long are they good for? help!!!!

I own a few scopes that have the illuminated reticule. I've never had a battery freeze up and I still have the original batteries from last year operating in them. Again, a lot depends on usage on how long they'll last. I didn't record the exact time of usage on the batteries.

I was really worried about them freezing when sitting in the cold for a few hours. I have a few old scopes that the power adjusting ring freezes and you can't adjust the power.

the scope that I have that are Illuminated are the NightForce NXS 5.5-22, Leupold Mark4 M2, they both work great, no problem, the problem with these scope is that when you turn it on, you have to remember to turn it off after used, other wise it drain battery very fast, other than that, it work great!

I have a 30mm Tasco red dot mounted on my .22lr which I always replace with good fresh name brand batteries at the beginning of the cold season. I think it's good practise to do the same with any illuminated optic batteries at this time of year as their small size allows them to cool down quickly reducing their power.

What about the Elite 3200 & 4200 Firefly's do these count?
I'm sure I'll be corrected if I am wrong, but AFAIK these do not use batteries. The reticle has a phosphorescent coating which is excited by a brief blast from a flashlight. So as long as you keep your flashlight warm you should be OK.

Correct, they do not use batteries. The crosshairs Luminesce once you charge them with a flashlight. They even come with one to charge the crosshairs with....
