I loaded up some 45acp last night for a fun day of target practice today and i think i went to chintzy on the powder. I loaded up 3.7grs of HP-38 in behind 230gr CMJ. Well lets just say I have 2 choices and one of them will be costly. I never had any FTF but I did have stove pipe problems on 50 of the 200rds. So im thinking that I either buy a 45acp revolver OR I buy some wimpier springs. I can shoot these rds in my 45 but it seems kind of odd to have to manually pull the slide back on each rd. The plus side to this is each rd produces as much recoil as my .22 :D

The problem with replacing the springs with lighter ones is that you will pound the heck out of that gun and maybe even do some damage if you use regular loads and forget to replace the original springs.
45acp, 1911 pistols weren't designed for what you are trying to do. I suggest either getting a .22rf upper and mag for your pistol or increasing your load.

Is your slide recessed above the extractor to help eliminate stove pipes? It's easy to do and if you don't feel capable, any gunsmith can do it cheaply.

Made this problem with a light load of 9mm... just pull them and reload them with more powder... and next time don't load so many rounds without first testing them. I thought I had it bad when I had to pull 40 rounds... but 200 rounds oh my!
