VLTOR stripped MUR upper or their monolithic variant

Im building a carbine length system with a 14.5 inch match grade barrel. I would like the hand gaurd to come right to joint of the brake and barrel. Any suggestions? 14.5inches is the longest barrel i would like.

Thanks

Can't comment on the BCG, vltor is good to go top notch quality.

If you're doing a 14.5 match barrel, consider moving up to a mid length gasser, it will wind up being softer to shoot.

I don't know many manufacturers who do a 14" rail, lots of 13" and 15". Check RDSC for 14" rails.

I've got the Vltor MUR upper on my Noveske lower. It's a pretty nice upper.

A 15" hand guard works nicely with a 14.5" barrel. It covers the transition from the barrel to the muzzle device for a nice clean look.

Sweet thanks for the info guys! One more question, i would like to shoot surplus 5.56 as well as 223 handloads. Should i get a barrel chambered in wylde? And will that be compatable with the vltor mur

You'll be fine, that chamber works fine with all normal 5.55 / .223 uppers and BCG. As long as you buy quality parts that are made to mil spec your headspace should be fine too.
BUT as a good rule of thumb, it's always a good idea to check headspace on custom builds, better safe then sorry.

I know that quality parts should have no issues with headspacing, but what to do if headspace is way out of spec?

Nothing to adjust on an AR!

If the Wylde chamber is offered it's an easy choice, but I wouldn't fret about the whole 223, 5.56 thing. That is really all about the throat dim. regardless of what anyone try's to tell you. If it's a new barrel with a 1 in 9 twist or faster it's going to be throated with heavier projectiles in mind and I would have no issue feeding it 5.56...anyone want's to pipe up about how they are loaded to higher pressures they are not, it's about chamber dimensions.
