I'm buying one so now school me!!!

The trigger gremlin... If you get a CZ, it will happen sooner or later. Fortunately, it's am easy enough fix to get the bolt tabbed and that solves it.

Good chance the original owner has already has his done.

I shot mine until the gremlin appeared, got the bolt tabbed, and the problem went away.

Oh... And accessories for the 858 are as addictive as for an AR.

That pic is a bit out of date, the accessories have grown since then.

What can I say about the 858...

Let's see... I've had several SKS rifles over the years...

Got an 858... And... The SKS's disappeared! Chuckle

Yes, you will love the 858! :ar15:

Cheers
Jay

The only con i can think of is they are too much fun and you will shoot any and all surplus you have left! That and original parts are harder to find and will not likely be able to get more down the road.

Where can one purchase that cheek riser for the folding stock?

I will have one for sale in a week or so along with real wood handguard and pistol grip.

OP: 858/V58 is a very addictive platform. Fun to shoot in the stock form and fun to mod.

Zahal offers a lot to mod it. The Gremlin is an overblown internet issue with an easy 2 minutes fix if you happen to have a rifle with it

Its probably the rifle that sees to most range/gravel pit time.

I believe he made that one. You'll have to break out your box o' skillz.

Heh, Pinky nailed it. Hand made and fitted out of some scrap white oak I had leftover from another project (my daughter's rocking horse). It makes for a way more comfortable cheek weld.

No way I could make them profitably, sadly. Well, if I invested a week or so making jigs, and set myself up to make about 100 or so of them, and sold them all for about 100$ apiece, I might turn it into a minimum wage gig ;)

The odd contour on the bottom is so that it has enough "meat" where the Chicago bolts hold the two halves together, while allowing full access to the safety, trigger, and mag release even when folded.
