Does anyone know how many CGN members there are? I tried looking for this information on the website but could not find it. By the way, I am not a anti-gun troll...:)

Here's the thing. I've always assumed there are a lot of us. With new members daily, the site membership must be growing by at least a thousand a year, and some prominent members have been around for 15 or more years. So, maybe 20,000 as a lowball estimate? Multiples of this? Higher? The CGN community comprises many niche interests, with segments of the community that might not otherwise communicate with one another, all under one website. This is all good. But I also assume that 'hunting and sporting shotguns' would be a very popular forum, considering the popularity of bird hunting and clay sports. So why do I get the impression that there are the same 20, 30 or 40 members posting, responding, and participating? These names I recognize, and most are familiar enough that I consider them friends, even if we've never met (the wonder of social media). Posts in this subforum rarely get high reply rates, and view rates depend on the subject matter, to be sure, but mostly relate to the number of replies, as we follow the discussions. (OK, if I had titled this post "The best turkey choke for the 870," I'm sure the numbers would be higher.) The majority of CGN members might be lurkers as opposed to contributors, but I would still expect a higher number of active participants in this subforum. So how many CGNers are there?

Well I might be considered a lurker I guess, I read more than I type but I do hold high value opinions of a lot of the contributers.

I'd like to know what the number of unique users per something like ~2wks or ~1 month are.
So not repeat users but different individuals.
200K membership is great but how many are checking in with any meaningful frequency?
Myself I try to check in 1/ week these days, on the weekends.....

Yeah a monthly unique visitor tabulation would be much more useful to know than total registered users.

I just joined recently. I wish I had joined years ago. I genuinely enjoy the forum threads and engaging with other members.
My professional life doesn’t afford me the opportunity to associate with other like minded enthusiasts, so I really enjoy this community.

I too was a ‘lurker’ for the longest time (forgive me farther for I have sinned)…
Was totally in awe of the experience, wisdom, and helpful nature of the contributors, almost intimidating to the point of being afraid to put forth my 3cents worth !! All the CGN forums are solid, solid GOLD and I too feel a close connection with members whom I may sadly never meet. We are not alone, we are all friends at a distance but bonded together by a love for a lifestyle that will never fade.

There is a hunting bc forum that is very hunting oriented with all the local regs and what not... could be taking some of that traffic

I doubt it. Although HBC has been around for a long time I doubt it takes anything from this site. I know I can advertise here and on HBC and get twice as many viewers here... and sell it here usually. There are several members who frequent both sites.

There are maybe a dozen obnoxious HBC members I ignore. The rest are pretty normal.

What's an APP ?
App is just short for application.

An application program (software application, or application, or app for short) is a computer program designed to carry out a specific task other than one relating to the operation of the computer itself, typically to be used by end-users.

For some reason it became the dominant parlance over terms like program. I blame smartphones.

I've noticed that a lot of once prominent members no longer post anymore. Whether they still browse the forums but don't bother to contribute, or whether they've moved on to somewhere else, I don't know. I do know that I'm posting less and less myself. Sometimes another member has answered a question more knowledgably than I could have, so I don't feel the need to add to the discussion. But more and more, I just feel like keeping my opinions to myself. I come here to scan the EE primarily, after that I browse the forums for a bit.
