I'm Going to Spear Me a Bear Tonight

There's been a bear around my place for a few weeks and as my neighbours put a lot of hen scratch out for the geese the bugger aquired a taste for it. Now he's at my place over the last few days trying to get at my bird feeder.

He won't bugger off when I yell or the dogs bark. A snowball used to do it, not any more. Yesterday I hit him with a rock once at the beach which scared him off for a bit only to find him under the bird feeder at about 9:00 having a little snooze  Smoked him with another rock from right above him and he kind of sauntered off.

To answer the obvious question, I can't shoot him where I live unless its a life or limb thing and I don't want to loose my guns :D

So tonight, I stand on guard armed with my spear. OK, not really a spear its about a 7 foot chunk of 1" dowling that the blue jays are perched on here.

I see him yonder. I will wait for his return. And with a blood curdling war hoop I will spear him from above in the but with my spear. I have it all worked out. The spear is too short to reach the ground by about 2 feet. Perfect to thump the little bastard with my 100 calibre hardwood piece or badness a time or two!. And hopefully send him away for good!!

This will be our finest hour.

ok completely off topic here but having never lived anywhere close to a lake and having seen boats parked like that and always wondered how the hell do you get too your boat if it's 80ft from shore? do you have to swim too get out to it? lol this has always boggled my mind so please help me lol. the big boats I know have alittle boat they take in to shor and to go back out but when i see small boats like that i never understood how people got to thier boats??

Back to Copperhead - the only stupid question is the one ya don't ask :D

First off its the ocean, that's why the boat's out a ways. Its high tide in the pic. Think of it as a clothes line with the pulley at the bouy. Its actually just a stainless shackle with a rope threaded through it and back to shore. You pull one side, the boat comes to shore, pull the other side and you real it back out to the bouy.

Now. Back to business. I am watching, waiting for my nemisis to show up :runaway:

Do us a favour and mount a video camera on your shoulder. :D

Ya! That would be incredible. Get one of those really tough cameras just in case he eats you. That way we can still see the footage!:D

Ya, that might work bushwhacker. But, I don't really want to kill it. Its not 2 years old yet, not mean, just stupid. Truth is its probably got a death sentence already but I'm hoping it will just f**k off, forget about humans, and hybernate. But not under my deck

So i shall teach it some manners Salty style. Ha ha ha ah. OK. your right. I'm bored. The nights are long and the days short. I'm batching it through the week days and I need something to do :D :D ;)

I'm with Light Infantry on this one. Make sure that the lens cap is off too. :D Don't be like that enviro-turd Treadwell who deprived us of the video of his unfortunate last dinner with his "brother" the bear.

Sorry geologist I don't own a video camera let alone a lens cap :p And he ain't my brother the little prick :runaway:

Back to Icon, funny you should suggest that I did buy an air horn the other day. But I had a bunch of beers with a buddy and let all the gas out trying an enebriated attempt to get the thing to work

I'm not saying I aggree with it, but some folks here use antifreeze for bear control.

.

I'm sure you don't SC.

Bear control around here isn't really worth considering (nor needed). There's probably a dozen bears within 2kms of here right now I $hit you not. There's piles of bears around this area to begin with, and a healthy salmon creek that spills into the bay about 200 yds from here that had a few thousand fish spawn in November. ;) Folks are used to bears its normally no big deal. Jus tryin to help little buddy learn some manners that's all :D
