I'm interested in a Lee Enfield

These rifles can indeed run $500 depending on condition and a few other variables. A lot of 'em are susceptible to having bad headspace due to being assembled out of parts bins with zero QC. Fixing it isn't hard, but bolt heads are expensive and not easy to find. Moreso for a No. 1 than a No. 4.
AIA's are considered poorly made by the CF and not suitable for military use(they looked at 'em for the CR's).
AIA has a long sordid reputation for being difficult to contact. There is no U.S. dealer as the stocks were made from Viet Namese wood and therefore not allowed into the States. AIA wasn't the screwee. Their site is gone too.
Do a net search for 'Australian International Arms' and read the AIA saga from .303British.com.

Sunray, you got to stop it with the Enfield and headspace thing.

Of all of the 50+ Enfields that passed through my hands the few that did have slightly lax headspace all passed no go guages. Those that were a tad loose can have any "issues"resolved not with an expensive bolt head, but a 10 cent o ring or proper prvi ammo.

The fact that we don't see any Enfield blowing up failure threads here is evidence it is a non issue.
