iv sked the other people at the club where they get there guns but there ither to old to remember where they actuly got them or there out of production.
so i know im demading and i try not to be but once again just roll with me.

You cannot own a gun at your age. Need to be of legal age, take the firearms safety course and apply for a PAL (possession and acquisition license).

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/index-eng.htm

You can have a hunting license (still have to take a course at your age - called CORE) and hunt under supervision or shoot at the range (again under supervision).

The restrictions are the same if you want to have a rimfire (like 22lr or something like a SKS).

You will need a restricted PAL (and course) if you want handguns and restricted rifles, like an AR.

Companies which sell firearms can be found in the dealers section or private/dealer in the so called EE (equipment exchange). But you need a license in any case as all firearms have to be registered with the CFC (see and read link above).

ok once again im not entirly clear about everything but hears what i think were going to do.

actuale firearm is registerd in my mothers name. me and here are taking the safety course and the pal she will take the resricted course because im underage and registering with the local gun club. from what they told us at the gun club if we have all our paper work then we join them then we get transporting permits and we use the range when they have scegualed outings.

dose that clear up any confusion

Get to know some people at the club, and i'm sure your mum and you will be allowed to try a few different guns before you make your minds up on purchasing one.

Ok, so you're getting a minor's license. That's great. It's free and it will allow you to borrow a non-restricted for use without supervision. You won't be able to own a gun until you're 18. Hopefully by that time you won't have to register it;)

A bolt action .22 can be very cheap to buy and feed, and finding left handed bolt .22 is not very hard.

Have fun!

"...i need help..." Yep. Despite your Grade 3 level spelling and grammar, go here. No offense, but your spelling and grammar is terrible. English your normal language?
That doesn't mean you won't get any help though. A new guy is a new guy and he gets whatever assistance he needs. Not helping a new shooter just isn't done.
Where are you? It matters. All kinds of things can happen if we know where you are.
At 15, you cannot own your own firearm.

"...doubt they're gonna like me bumming shots off them..." You'll find that most shooters will bend over backwards to help a new shooter. Including letting you shoot their firearms isn't unusual. Wouldn't occur to me, not to, myself.
A 50 round box of .22 ammo isn't terribly expensive. Mind you, $3 is expensive if you just don't have it.
Some clubs have a 'youth' section. Ask. And as daft as it sounds, enthusiastic, young guys who volunteer to do the stuff nobody else wants to do are appreciated and looked after.
"...me and her..." Your da out of the picture? Not my business, of course. You'll get help anyway.

If your mom gets the license and gun, she can then take you and supervise you while you shoot it, then eventually transfer it to you when you come of age and get the restricted license yourself.

Honestly, I'm very disappointed with the ignorance of the built-in spell-check. Even right-clicking on "scegualed" miraculously offers the correct spelling. A word gets underlined in red when it's wrong, it's kind of hard to ignore; grammar is another story.

Edit: It might just be Google Chrome providing the spell-check, which makes the situation slightly more understandable if IE doesn't.

ok im teribly sorry for my spelling and grammer. i have a bit of lerning disability. basicly it sound right in my head so thats how i type it.

and i not very big with my dad at the moment. i konw that sounds mean but i am( he has a 1892 double barrle and i want it so bad god damn it:D)

and about the youth program. if anybody here is from cape breton youd know the story about the gun club.
they had a indor range and buddy had just bought like7 or 8 guns to start a youth program but the range was shut down from taxes so the only other range is way out in the back country so not many people like to take the trip out. they meat at that range maby twice a month (once this month. damn you huricane bill) so youth program is out of the qwestion untill theres another indor range opened up

You have a great mother there. Glad to hear you are interested in guns. Your sig line is really stupid though, you should get rid of it. No disrespect, but to me it sends the wrong message.

Welcome to the forum. I have removed your signature as its in violation of board policy and deliberately provocative. Enjoy your stay here. However we feel about the law, they are the laws so they must be followed.

As you have a few years to wait until you are 18, I suggest you pick up a book and learn something in the mean time.

It's hard being young eh? I hate when people troll about spelling and grammar. Your posts are fine and I understood them perfectly. To answer your original question, you might want to take a look at a Browning Buckmark Camper, they are a few hundred dollars and from what I've heard a great .22 semi-auto handgun.

Nice to have you here man. Like some of the above posters mentioned, when at the range, a lot of people should be willing to let you try a few different rifles or handguns so that you can see what you're in the market for. Lots of guys mentioned getting a .22 or SKS which is good advice in my opinion. Go get whatever licenses you can get your hands on and go from there. It's too bad you're in Cape Breton because if you were in Ontario i'd help you out as much as i could. We need as many younger guys as possible to get into hunting and sport shooting. Good luck to ya.

"...I'm terribly sorry...have a bit of learning disability..." Don't be sorry. I'm the one who owes you the apology for jumping to conclusions. Sorry, Benjermin, please forgive my ignorance.
"...not very big with my dad at the moment..." That sucks. Still not my business, had no da growing up myself.
You have a minor's permit? Isn't a great deal of help, but it lets you buy ammo. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/minor-mineur-eng.htm
Any Army Cadet Corps near you? Air rifles only, locally, but doors get opened. The Cape Breton Highlanders were a seriously respected bunch in W.W. II.
Not exactly sure if it'll help, but contact the Nova Scotia Rifle Association. http://www3.ns.sympatico.ca/nsrifle/programs.htm
drgroove101, read the whole thing did you? Our novice shooter is 15.

I read his original post and understand he is 15. He was asking for suggestions about which gun he should look at to get started with and I replied with my opinion... that is one of a forums purpose

:agree:

Yup, this is a great way for young people to learn how to respect others and themselves, and you get to go shooting with the Corps. When I was in army cadets I came home and was still in the "sir" and "maam" mode, I'd literally call my parents "sir" and "maam", Mother loved it.

This is how I got to shoot when I was your age (can't believe i'm saying that already), and pretty soon I was getting awards for best shooter in my troop. You learn how to strip, clean, reassemble, and handle your rifle well before you get to shoot. All fundamentals to success. Except our rifles weren't air rifles, when did they change to that, or is that a local thing for your Corps sunray?
