... as to why The Shooters Edge still hasn't sold out of their police K31s with matching bayonets. People in the states are salivating over them.
Could it be that people just don't know about them?
I punched up the pictures a bit.

Personally, I'm not interested in a milsurp from a country that hasn't fought a war in a couple hundred years. The Swiss just don't hold any interest for me in a historical context and therefore neither do their old rifles. The same goes for the Swedes, in my view.

I guess you just don't care about accurate rifles? :)
Fine, more for us who do.

Perhaps the significance is that they did NOT fight a war. It was certainly not because of any pacifist tendencies.
There are few service rifles that will shoot as well as a Swedish Mauser or a Swiss Schmidt Rubin.

They just showed up yesterday for one thing.
The price on them (and the ammo to feed them) is more than originally quoted as well.
That being said, I don't expect TSE will have any trouble selling out.
That blondie in the pics above is gorgeous!

No, not in this context. I like milsurps for their history not for their accuracy. If I want accuracy I'll go visit the precision rifles forum :D It's just that Swiss and Swede rifles never saw combat, never proved or disproved their abilities under harsh circumstances. Look at the Ross for example, a highly accurate and well made rifle that just wasn't up to the demands of its time in combat. How would the Schmidt-Rubin have held up in trench warfare or the house-to-house of Stalingrad? We'll never know so it's just another sporty-rifle to me.

The Swedes took the German Mauser which was already battle tested and made it better, better metal, better fit and finish, better cartridge.

Something to be said about not having to be building stuff under the pressure of bombs falling on your factory's, and having to send most of the fit men in your countries population into war.

As far as the Swiss goes One has to respect a nation that trained every man to be a sharp shooter. Their rifle reflects this and their spirit of independence.

And they got to hold both wallets knowing that in the end they'd only have to give one back...

They're nice but way over priced at $500. And I'm even less enthused when they say "starting at $499". If I really wanted one the both P&S and Tradex have them "Starting at" $240-275. I'll pass and put it toward something I really want.

Looks like they have a bunch of Afgan grenade launchers too......

Bahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!! I have never heard a baseball bat called that, and it is now the only word I'll use :D

On a side note, I suspect the level of training most swiss (were supposed) to have would likely mean the K31's would be ok... (attention to maintenance, understanding of the equiptment etc)

IE - how SVT 40's weren't long lived in the hands of russian peasantry, but the germans loved them.

However, I think the question would be: would the swiss be able to support a military effort once under pressure (manufacture, support, supply, organisation, and strategic planning).

In the meantime, I need a 7.5x55 trimming set so I can shoot my K31:)
