My apologies to the citizens of Lethbridge.
That was not the sound of thunder, rumbling through the river valley today. Nor was it the police throwing hand grenades.
It was me.....and my 460V
I took her down to the range today so I could give her a true workout. I'd shot light and heavy 45 Colt loads through her before, and I wanted....no... needed to pound some .460 mag downrange.
After a "warm up" with the .44 Mag, I loaded up one round (yes, just one) in the S&W. Deep breath, exhale, steady the hands, #### the hammer, concentrate on the front sight aaaaaannnnnnnddddddd touch the trigger, HOLY F**K! I was not ready for that! A bomb went off in the gun. Wait, I'm still alive. Mother ******, that was unreal! I now know what recoil is. After a second or two of shock, I started to giggle like an idiot and loaded her up again. Damn, if this pistol doesn't make me smile
.
I've heard stories of others, who when they shoot theirs have had people come around wondering WTF was that. Well, today it was my turn. A couple of guys working on the range's main gate (a solid 100 meters and a good dirt berm away) had to come by to see what the hell was going on. They said it was louder than the rifle range immediately in front of them. Even in the bright sunlight, they could see the flame from the comp and lord knows I could feel the blast and heat wave.
I can truly say my .44 Mag is rather unassuming now. I won't get rid of her, but she has lost top spot on my s**ts and giggles list.
So once again, my apologies to the citizens of Lethbridge. I will be shooting this again.
