I've been asked by a guy at work to make an offer on ~150 of "these" as he tosses one in my lunch pail at work. I'm not long enough the tooth to have bought or even shot any of these. I have a box or 2 of CIL CPE bullets on the rifle bullet shelf that looks the same. I had to google CPE to see what it was, copper point expanding. How well did these work?

I have no interest in hunting anymore and would rather shoot those gallery loads I've started in on this winter. But they'd make a good trade for other components if they were good ammo.

Good old ammo, I shot my first ever doe in the head with a CPE, and it left a 3" exit hole, I believe they work as intended for being invented in 1922. Would made for a good trade for sure. Depending in price might even be good paper punchers

Can’t help you with current pricing as this box was given to me but don’t you wish you could still get them for the back in the day price!

What is the headstamp? I had a bunch that were military cases. Just be mindful if they're cordite and corrosive.

The only way those could be corrosive is if someone has pulled military fmj and replaced them with copper points,(always a possibility of course). Those look like factory CIL, either Dominion, or Imperial. ....catnip

This was also a common occurrence, I have a box of 48 WW2 vintage MK VII, of them all pulled and replaced with CPE bullets,

I have several hundred 180 grain CPE's that I did some testing with in my hand loads. They are a good accurate bullet, but back in the day , they were either hated or loved depending on who you talked to.
Remington had a comparable bullet as well, the Bronze Point. They were made for heavier animals from what I was told, but Jack O'Connor was not a fan after "a sample of one".
Trade them fr the equal cost of some new factory 180 grain ammo.
