Anyone have and comments on this gun??? I am looking at purchasing an AR and spending around $1500... is this the gun for me?

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

i hate to say it but the norinco m4 offers all of the same features and has a milspec safety positioning and for 1/2 the price at $899.

if your looking for a brand name ar I suggest stag arms as sold thru walter at arms east.... who as it happens also selld the norinco m4 as well.

I dunno. Ive been thinking of buying / building an AR, but looking at the Norinco CQ, visually it appears cheaply made with little care for quality control like the other Norinco's are. I have no experience with the Imperial Defense line though, but would lean towards something North American or European made just for the product quality.

I was going to get a Norinco... but i went to look at one and the finish on it was soo bad... I wouldnt be able to bear looking at the OOgly paint job they put on it. Plus everything just doesnt fit together as well as it should... what do you really expect with Chinese products though...

I am buying it to shoot it... but at the same time i dont want it to look like the Norinco's that i have seen... I just cant spend a grand on somthing and have it look like sh*t. Imperial are made in the UK to my understanding and they buy their parts from Bushmaster like everyone else...(this is what i have been told). Norinco manufactures their own parts and all in all i just think it is put together poorly. Once again this is what a rep told me at Epps. Your input is appreciated

There have been zero reports of ill-functioning Norinco M4's that I have seen. And the IDS M4 I handled had a lousy finish, too.

Salesmen exist to sell whatever makes them the most money.

ok was it not reported that the imperial defense guns are actually made from parts sourced from vietnam ??

one thing you should be aware of rubicon is that the Imperial guns do not have a milspec safety, milspec only rotates 90* to go from safe to fire, the imperial defense guns take 180*.....

so that to me is a big difference, the main question nobody else has answered is what else is different.....

frankly the norincos are the best buy going on right now.... for the $600 difference your norinco could be wearing a quad rail and an eotech and still have cash left over for ammo.

I also backed out of a Norinco M4 which surprised the people around me because I own a lot of Norinco stuff.

But I hear you on the fit and finish thing...it just wasn't enough for the money, although I am sure they work well.

But I have also handled the ID...I believe it is a chinese gun massaged and assembled in britain or something of that sort.

For the money, I would buy a Norinco and replace parts until you hit the price of the ID. Then you'd probably have a substantially better rig than the ID would have been.

Or I would look at other manufacturers of ARs. But the ID did not impress me all that much, personally.

are you hung up on buying brand new ?? del selinas in the "EE" has S&W ar15's for the same price.

and there are tons of brand name guns from armalite, RRA, STAG, COLT and so on in the "EE" for very resonable prices.... there is absouloutly nothign wrong with a gently used gun :)

Fair enough... I have been a gun owner for many years not and have had my restricted licence for 9 years now. I was just really excited to find out about this site... as i have been researching where to buy one and havnt had the best luck finding a used one. Firearms canada was the best place i could find for free buy/sell ad space. I currently own a 92FS INOX, Browning BAR .308 shorttrack, Browning BL-22, and a model 94 30-30. I am looking for a shotgun to add to my collection and a toy to have some fun at the range with... like an AR.
