Well I fluked into a ####load of Imperial 2 3/4 inch Magnum Half Brass #4...
10 boxes, 120$...

For those who don't remember, they're the ones with the rings in the brass..
Also got some 7.5 long range half brass...

I just love these shells....

The magnums used to be amazing for ducks...

Learned to hunt ducks with Imperial Long Range "high brass"...the older dark blue paper ones though. We shot #5's on ducks...1 1/4 oz. though. Beautiful aroma to the spent hulls. Later in the 1970's my dad would purchase case loads of the new plastic Imperials. I always did have a soft spot for the paper though. Canucks were popular as well.

I have half a case, 12 boxes, of the old purple carboard, CIL Imperial high brass, 1¼ oz of #6, as well as the case they are in.
Can't use them, of course, for ducks anymore, but great medicine fo scary pheasants.
And someone mentioned the beautiful aroma of the newly shot empties!!!

The aroma is wonderful. Brings back memories of early mornings in the duck boat blasting greenheads with the old Browning.

A close second in the aroma department is federal paper trap loads.:)

and your point is???

in fact they were great shells and still are...;)

In case you din't know you can still pay 20 odd dollars for lead shells...
Just depends on your preference.

don't worry, once you have hunted enough, you'll have preferences too ;)

Those are GREAT shells! I grew up using them for ducks, geese, varmints in the barn, you name it we killed it with Imperial High Brass! I would not hesitate to use them for turkeys too, as well as the aforementioned pheasants. I scored about a half dozen boxes last summer from a guy that I was re-insulating and siding his house. He came out of the basement with them headed for the hazordous waste disposal site...I said whoa! there buddy, I will take care of that for you! :D

I have bought quite a few boxes at gun shows for crow shooting. They out perform the lead you can buy in stores now. The old paper ones throw a lot of junk into the air though.

I too remember the old blue Imperial shot shells for duck hunting.Great shell.

Also remember the orange paper Imperial 28 gauge shot shells and the red plastic 28 gauge Imperial shot shells. They were and are a great shell.Still have a few boxes of the 28 gauge Imperial shells.

Great shells and great memories!! That's all my old Dad ever used in his Tobin - Imperial Special Long Range, 7 1/2's. He used them on Prairie Chicken, Ruffed Grouse, and Hungarians. Oh man, the smell of those empty hulls. As a kid, I saved 'em all!!

Used-up the last of my Imperial & Winchester Super X - Double X duck loads in Cuba.
( No "non-tox regs" down there) There are not many "native" Cuban duck hunters, but a few of the older ones that I met knew what the Imperials from Canada were ! The current Minister of Flora & Fauna (their Federal Natural Resources Ministry) is one of
the very few Revolution guerilla commandants ... and thoroughly delightful man.
He's a big fan of the Imperials too !

Burned loads of Imperial 2's on jacks & Canadas, and 4's,5's & 6's on ducks & pheasants.
