Hey guys, i m just wondering with all the threats of trade sanctions against Russia for their actions in the ukraine, do you think thats going to dry up the supply of mosin's / SKS's. I was thinking of adding another mosin to my collection soon, but should i get a little more urgent on the matter?

I think it will be fine, if not better, new govn't though, so paperwork may be easier or harder! But everyone wants to make money so those warehouses of rifles and ammo gotta move! Also the reason sks are so popular is they are cheap to buy and the ammo is cheap! If that changes then they will be much less popular so its a balancing act as usual, market demand will drop with any increase in price! Also market saturation can happen where most people have their 1,2, or 3 sks and now just need cheap ammo, once the ammo goes up in price, they become safe queens and we move on to the next cheapest option!

My thinking is if you want something and have the money, why not buy it now? Whether real or perceived to be real, what's going on over there will have an effect. If I weren't on such a tight budget right now Renfrew County would be out of surplus ammo.

I can see the end to imports, period, from that area of the world if the "standoff" intensifies. Good news for merchants with SKSs in stock. Combine that with all the uncertainty around the 858, and the SKS may turn into quite the high demand commodity... of course as long as bulk 7.62x39 is available.
SKSs were coming out of Ukraine, no more since the troubles. Since the Kiev government does not control the country it will take very long time before arms storages open up again if they do. Even if they do open the new government since it is basically globalist creation will sing UN treaty on Arms Control within minute of the New government becoming Legitimate. Or if the country will throw this Kiev government and they run and we will see Russian backed government in place there will be sanctions.

You can always get a Chinese SKS. Just as good as a Russian SKS. In fact, I can't wait for stores to be selling more Chinese SKS as I've always wanted one but could never find one locally.
As much as I hate Putin and those damn invaders, I myself don't put sanctions on Russian guns or ammo. They are inanimate objects and would be like blaming the gun for Putin's actions.

here's the bugger of the matter... if "hysteria" does cause a price increase, once a wholesale/retailer gets a heightened markup, it won't be going down for some time... kinda like gas. I remember some time ago when everyone quipped that the price per liter matched the price per barrel. (ie: gas was 99.9 when the price per barrel was $99.xx... then it crept up and up, price per barrel hit $140+, gas hit $1.40/litre... after the fall to around $80 per barrel, we never did see that $.80 gas again... LOL) same thing will happen with 7.62x39 Ammo, right now I'd say the avg. price is .17-.19/round for milsurp, but if the price hits .30 or .40/ round, don't expect to ever see .17 ever again, even if supply exceeds what it currently is... you might get .25 after the smoke clears.

geeez... Westrifle just sold 14 SKS's since yesterday afternoon. All they have left are their three 49's... which don't look too bad!

One thing is for certain, there's still no shortage of SKS's on our shores... probably enough supply for many months or years to come. Just check EE... or Lebaron or other reputable gun stores... still quite a few on the shelves.

If Russian Sks gone all you will have is Chinese Sks which by the way were denied by shipping line to be exported. This is why you don't see as many. If you want to talk to me about Russian or Chinese Sks give me a call I never hide and I will tell you straight up what is the story. Just like Putin does it.
