I have been trying to buy a Left Hand Ruger American Compact 308 and am not having much luck in Canada.
The area gun shops said they didn't have a sku number so they couldn't order one.
No one would even check into it for me.
I then contacted Ruger themselves and the emailed me the sku number and description along with the names and contact information for their two Canadian Importers- Distributors.
Both the importers said that they wouldn't bring one in because "they don't carry that model" I suggested that I would prepay for one at an Edmonton dealer of choice.
They still would not bring one in.

The part number is 6940. Here is link to the spec sheet:

I have gone online and it seems pretty simple to bring a unrestricted firearm across the border, of course you would have to be going there to do it.
Does any one know of an American Gun Shop that will ship to Canada, the rules seem simple for that as well but I am having difficulty finding a shop that will do it.

Read up on ITAR....rules are not as simple as you think.

Clay can get it thanks

He'll look after you for sure. Be aware, it will cost you upwards of $200 in fees on top of the rifle price to import it iirc. You might be able to step up a level in quality of rifle for your money locally after factoring in the extra importation costs for the Ruger.

We quoted at retail, not as an import. We have one coming :)

The Canadian Tire by me will order anything they carry in so you might try them, i ordered a LH 243 and it only took 3 weeks.
