Interesting article. Thanks for posting, I hadn't seen it yet. Interesting that they were making wooden boxes for the pistols, I wonder if any still exist?

Regards,
-Steve

No wooden boxes have surfaced.

Guess is that if it wasn't nailed down post-war, it became firewood. I would pay just to see one.
In fact, I don't believe the VIS collecting community even knew about the boxes prior to the survivor, Dora Zaidenweber, speaking about her experiences.

Interesting. Anyone ever heard of exported Radoms before? Or have any idea what the cubes were?

Exported? Do you mean cloned? Cloned pistols were known to exist, but I don't believe one has ever been identified. No two of the same serial numbers have been identified.

I have no idea what the golden cubes could be.

No, I mean exported as she says in the interview. She could certainly be wrong about them being for export but a lined, polished wooden box seems unlikely to be for issue.

Without putting words in her mouth, I don't think she means export in the sense we mean it. They were exported out to Austria for completion and then delivered wherever they were needed (Kreigsmarine, Norway, Germany, etc).
