You've got 1 week left to get your letters off regarding the new allocation process. After that it's all for not.
Things you should be worried about/thoughts:
minimum guarantee of only 30% of animals for residents -- that is now "resident priority" before it was 70%
we will be losing allocations in close to 48% of all allocated animals compared to now
LEH is being used to measure demand and it's now a use it or lose it system- when we don't fill our allocated harvest it will simply be given to guide-outfitters
There's no LEH for non-residents as there is in many jurisdictions across north america - why do residents have to hunt on LEH permits when non-resis don't?
we contribute more time and money to Fish and Wildlife so we should get the lions share
non-resis are getting close to half of all allocations when it comes to big ticket items such as sheep and grizzly bear - also goat in most areas
We face barriers such as access, antler restrictions ( 4pt mule deer, full curl sheep, 6 pt elk, 10 point/tri-palm moose), LEH, 1 in 3 yr harvest etc., - does that show true demand? Also, considering most residents are meat hunters why are we managing our animals for non-resident trophy hunters?
Anything helps................................. we'll be locked in for the next 5 years
