Hello

As we all know there are slight variations in the actual length of 4" handgun barrels. Has anyone had success buying a 4" barrelled revolver and importing it from the US? By this I mean having the sellers measure individual guns and purchasing a "long" one for importation?(106mm) Just wanted to hear of any stories. I am interested in a couple different 4" revolvers that are very common and want to know if this is possible? Thanks.

A slight variation is usually a thousandth of an inch. Anything more than that is a manufacturers defect in that it's out of spec. I'm doubtful that you could go through a bin of used model 10's and find one that's so far out of spec that it would make regs. Either it was made long enough to be imported or it wasn't.

The only other option is if someone re-barreled it in which case it had better be alot longer than required otherwise you risk flushing you cash on a non-refundable non-importable gun.

I've heard of guys doing this with Dan Wessons with the barrel sets. Just open up the cylinder gap to get it verified, because the length is measured to the face of the cylinder.
