Latelly I have developed a fascination for military/training air rifles and thinking of importing a few from the US. First of all, they are under 495FPS, so they are not subject too our registry.
Do they require a US Export Permit or can I simply buy one on Gunbroker and have it shipped to my adress? Any issues with the Canadian side?

I know the seller needs to provide a document that states what the velocity is. As for the guns themselves~the only "trainers" I'd love to have up here would likely be a big no-no from an importation POV. (McGlashan) I know there are some new AR-type air rifles that being considered for manufacture, again...full auto and over 600 fps.

So, to answer your question...I have no idea. :) I bought a Crosman Z77 (low-powered, single-shot BB gun that looks like an UZI) a few years ago, no issues. Was from a private individual, not a business.

There should be no problem with any air powered rifle as far as imports etc go.....I've bought and registered several, with advice from border services in both countries to ensure legality, and the only caveat was if they were over 500 fps, they need to be registered, but i have since travelled back and forth many times with them no problem.

As fa as 'trainers'....you will probably have issues. Replica rules will come into effect, and are largely and specifically vague in their interpretation by individual guards or customs officers as far as I have heard.....tread carefully. If it is a remote replica.......you may have problems.

The BATF doesn't consider an airgun or muzzleloader a firearm.Buy it declare it at the border.........Harold

Absolutely, the problem with be with the Canadian Guards if there is a problem.

Even if it is under 500fps, a trainer / replica will cause issues I think.

If over 500 fps phone and register it before returning so you have a transfer # for the Border guys that way you get to take the gun with you instead of the posibility of getting it a month later in the mail..............Harold
