Importing Gun Parts

Sorry for posting this in the wrong section, what would be the right section?

What can I get shipped up to me from the US? I'm looking for a 1911 slide, optic plate, and a $75USD 2011 grip (because $275 grip modules are F**KING ridiculous!)
If nothing can be sent direct to me, would it really cost me $275 per shipment through IRunGuns?

There are two hurdles to clear - Canadian import restrictions, and US export restrictions. Aside from the obviously naughty items, the Canadian side isn't generally the problem (though it can take a while to clear customs).

On the US side, the exporter has to be registered for that purpose, AND the parts themselves must come from a manufacturer registered for export. That's why you see many items on the Brownells website that say they can't be shipped outside of the US.

Here's what I do: if you want something from the US, ask the retailer if they'll send it to you. If they will, then great (but make sure you get it shipped USPS to avoid crazy brokerage fees). If they won't, ask IRunGuns or one of the other importers if they can get it for you.
