Importing Guns

Hello,
I have bought several guns from Canadian stores and manufacturers but I was wondering if it’s possible to import firearms from other countries (Specifically the USA)? I realize that if this is possible the gun would have to comply with all Canadian gun laws.

The reason I am so curious about this is that I would love to buy the NEMO Omen Nightmare in 300 Win Mag. I assumed that it was on the banned list, however I saw a thread on here that questioned weather the NEMO Recon in 300 Win Mag (I believe it’s quite similar just the length varies) would be able to be imported. I have a hard time keeping up with all of the newest regulations and fully understanding why some guns are banned and others are not. Does anyone know if it would be possible to legally buy this gun?

FRN 143560 - prohibited and you will not be able to import it, Sorry. RCMP considers it a AR variant.

As to your other question it is possible to import from other countries on demand - there are a number of companies that offer the service.

Thanks for your reply.
I kind of figured it would be on the banned list. It was just wishful thinking I guess. If something looks like too much fun the government has to ban it.
Could you give me a couple examples of the companies you were talking about?

If from the US I'd recommend Prophet River for cost and responsiveness. Would not recommend Irungiuns - if something goes in the least bit wrong you get no recourse.

Your experience highlights the challenges with the current system. The lack of transparency and the perceived arbitrary nature of some classifications are frequent concerns among Canadian firearm owners. Engaging in respectful dialogue with policymakers and advocating for clearer and more consistent regulations is crucial for improving the situation for everyone.

I used to try handling imports on my own, but I quickly learned that the risks and potential fines aren’t worth it. Now, I never take a chance, I rely on specialized companies to handle ITAR and all the nitty-gritty details. It really pays off in the long run, saving both money and stress.

For anyone considering an import, especially for something like the NEMO Recon in 300 Win Mag, I’d highly recommend checking out this consulting firm. It’s a must to understand what you’re up against.
