Hi Guys,

If I import an LRB rifle, do I need to have the flash supressor removed? Prophet River's import page says that they are unable to import rifles with flash supressors or collapsible stocks. Can anybody weigh in on this? Anyone care to share their importing story with me?

Thanks

As I said via PM I asked PR and they said no problem - what they have on there page is either out of date or wrong. I ended up using IRG for my import and there were zero issues. Think of all the M1A and AR's that are imported - if the exporter has ducks in a row with State Dept there is no issue.

Those regulations have since been changed and are no longer in effect. For a while it also said that PRF couldn't import AR-15s either.

It's also why you may have noticed that some batches of firearms, such as the Daniel Defense M4V5s, are marked .223 and a shipment the next year is marked 5.56, it's because the regulations changed so people no longer had to mark it with a non-military cartridge, even though it was chambered for the military cartridge.

Site should say we 'may' not be able to import one. However, they are all getting approved with no issue right now. Anybody importing to to be aware that anything could get rejected, just depends on their ever changing policy. At one point we had to do a lot of extra paperwork on anything in 223 or 308, even a Ruger #1 single shot. The reason? For about six months the policy was to reject or require end user certificates for ANYTHING that could chamber a current military cartridge. Really left open to an officers discresion. An officer could argue to reject a 35 whelen as a 308 Would chamber in it? It never went that far but 223 and 308's were certainly a pain and delayed for a stretch of about 6 months...
