Ive been searching the net and cant seem to find an answer to my question. Is it legal to import projectiles into Canada? I'm going to the states this weekend and was going to pick up a few thousand berrys 9mm 124gr HP. I can find the laws on firearms and ammo, but not reloading components.

Thanks

Simple answer is NO . You need an export permit , that you cannot get! Check out some of the sponsors here and it will save you alot of headaches. Not to mention you will still be able to travel south of the border again in the future!

Short answer is you cant. I was talking with Henry at Budget Shoter about it and he told me about what he had to do to import. Its not impossible but it is a fairly lengthly process on both sides of the border. Doing so on a quick trip across the border is not really feasible

Perfectly legal to import into Canada.
US Federal offence to export without the permits from the US.

Saying it's illegal to import is a bit of a misnomer since it isn't. You can import projectiles (so long as they aren't tracer/explosive/AP/etc.) from any country you want that will ship them here/let you leave with them.

It may look like splitting hairs but it is actually quite a difference legally.

It is perfectly legal to import projectiles into Canada.

BUT it is illegal to export them from the United States without an export permit which takes 6-8 weeks to get.

When you are in the U.S.A. and you are a CANADIAN it is illegal to have or transport ammo or components To import you have to apply for a permit. All of the stores in Minot have the rules and regulations posted at their ammo counters .

I've ordered and received bullets from RSA, which appears to be easier than getting bullets in from our neighbors in the USA. Of course I don't know what hoops the manufacturer had to jump through to get them to me, but they arrived as quickly from half way around the world as some shipments of hand tools that I've got from Brownells. I don't know if this has changed recently though.

The best way is to use an exporter like reloadinginternational.com who does all the US paperwork for you after you get the Canadian import permit to him, it is all on his web site and I have bought through him before. In the end it would probably be cheaper to buy Berry's bullets from one of the sponsors here that sell them.

I ain't no expert fer sure, but Hornady's Lock and Load Ammo Deal is valid in Canada, and I sent off for my 500 free bullets. I'll see if I get em, But I can't see Hornady saying it's valid in Canada and not having a way to legally ship them. Later I sent for another 100 cause I bought some dies.... Hopefully Hornady has all the permits, which would mean you can order from them??

I can double confirm the Hornady free bullet deal. I called them to make sure they had received my warranty card and money for the free bullets and they said they had. Since I had them on the phone I ask when I should expect them, they said as soon as they get to their Canadian distributor, I ask who it was, it's Korth. So now I'm semi-patiently waiting for my free bullets.
