No......She can not bring the mount across the border for you...........The U.S. Dept. of Commerce control the export of firearms optics and mounts. They have no export exemptions on the items they control.

It is best to call them yourself and verify in case there have been changes to the regulations.

bastards! thanks Skullboy, glad i asked, wouldn't want to get anyone in trouble..

I might want to.

Not your mom though. :) But there's a scope mount I'd like to get from the U.S. and I think the maker hasn't kept up their license to export, so I'm s.o.l.

OK, now I get it ... !

It's the export license that the US dealers have to keep "alive" or they cannot export scope mounts to Canada - or elsewhere. Right ?

If the manufacturer doesn't get a license to export an item, the U.S. regulations forbid anyone exporting the item. The license is relatively expensive, so a lot of companies don't get or keep them because they don't expect to sell enough for export to pay for it.

The manufacturer must be registered with US DOS. The exporter must be licenced. If the item is specifically controlled, the licenced exporter must obtain a specific permit to ship the thing made by a registered manufacturer.
