It is legal to import unprimed brass from the US.
It is legal to export unprimed brass from the US if the licenced US exporter has obtained the necessary US export permit for the shipment.

Last time I placed an order with Graf & Sons, I was told they couldn't export brass without an export license, and that an export license would cost $250.00 to file.

When I mentioned I had ordered from Starline in the past, the guy told me they (Starline) shouldn't have shipped it to me and could get in trouble...

That was the last time I attempted to buy brass from the States.

The only place that makes it easy on Canadians to order reloading components is ReloadingInternational. Mike takes care of all the paperwork and even has an automated form filler and detailed instructions on what to do in Canada.

The way it works is that you need to apply for an import certificate in Canada. Once that's granted, you send or fax it to Mike at RI and he then applies for an export license in the States. Takes a couple of weeks all in all.

The best part is the license is good for a year, so you can apply for all the components you think you'll need for a year, then order what you need when you need it.

Well I shoot a Lee Enfield No.4, SKS and looking at getting into the Mosin Nagant's as well. I would like to try and find reload materials here in Canada, including FMJ bullets too. Any leads on this stuff would be great.

PM or Email Mystic precision. He can get you everything you need. I just got a bunch of bullets and brass and was only slightly more than I could of from the states.

Buffalo Arms in the U.S. used to be able to ship brass to Canada, then the U.S. State department changed to rules, and they stopped...BUT they can ship shotgun brass to Canada without any problem...Go figure....

Enfield

  • Buy 3 boxes of PRVI for around $20.00 a piece. Dealers here have it or will have it.
  • Shoot it.
  • Buy your reloading components. (bullets for example for .303 loads can be had for around 15¢ a piece)
  • You now have 600 reloads on your hands if you use minimum to medium reloads. (approximately 20 reloads per piece of brass) After the first load your reloads are around 30¢ a piece.

SKS

  • Save your time. Just buy PRVI for $17.00 per box of 20. If you hunt with your SKS, you may use 5 rounds per year. Three boxes is good for 12 years of hunting. If you're going to just shoot your SKS, use the $160.00ish crates of ammo floating around.

Nagant

  • Buy 3 boxes of PRVI for around $20.00 a piece. Dealers here have it or will have it.
  • Shoot it.
  • Buy powder and primers. Get your bullets from your surplus 7.62X39 cartridges your shooting in your SKS.
  • You now have 600 reloads on your hands if you use minimum to medium reloads. (approximately 20 reloads per piece of brass) After the first load your reloads are around 30¢ a piece.

Nothing has to be bought abroad and the costs are about the same.

Well how could you ever assume cannon parts were exportable? :D

:D

Fun to shoot too :D :runaway: I forget if I got 50 or 100 cases when I ordered them. I've been using the same 10 now for the last few months working up a load. I just keep annealing the case necks.

But I don't see anyone stepping up to tell me of a Canadian source for more brass.

Price has to be less then $3/case

Yes they did - try Mystic Precision, a site sponsor with a banner top right right corner of the page or just PM mysticprecision here on cgn. He gets quite a bit of uncommon stuff for me and prices are as good as it gets in Canada. Ask him. He usually replies almost immediately.

I bought 7.62x54R from him not long ago, but he did not have 577/450 of any type. :D
