Hello all,
I am thinking about getting one of these rifles and would like to hear from those who have them. I was thinking about a G2 Contender or Encore with the .17 HMR barrel, a .223 Remington tube and something in the big bore style.
Comments please.
Thanks
Greg

You might want to take a look at the new Knight KP-1. It's the same idea as the T/C.

I don't have one ..Yet. But really want one (encore). Seem really well made and love the idea of easily changing barrels. But don't know where to buy one at. Hoping for 280, 0r 300wm, 0r 308, 0r 7mm RM, and 22-250. 26"-28" barrel of course.

My T/C Contender was crazy accurate. Definitely regret selling it in a fit of what I now recognize is outrageous stupidity. Might give me the opportunity to try a new G2 or perhaps the Encore though! :)

And Rob, if you think .223 in a pistol if fun, try .45-70, now that's a baby that thumps!

I have a Thompson Encore with 3 barrel's the .50 muzzle loader, a.300 WIN mag bull barrel and a .22-250 bull barrel and they all shoot and group well, easy to clean too! With the price of barrel for the encore running just a tad under 300$ it makes for a good riffle at a cheap price!

The stock design of these rifles does make felt recoil a bit heavy so if you are looking at adding a big bore down the road, I'd look seriously at the Pro Hunter. The new stock design reduces felt recoil considerably. I've got a .416 and .375 for mine and while I wouldn't say they are a pleasure to shoot, the Pro Hunter stock definitely tames them down considerably over the standard Encore stock.

I have a TC Encore with 3 different barrels,7mm mag,300WM & a 45-70 barrel.All sitting in the safe.Hope to get them out in the spring.DAN>>>

I have a T/C Encore in 243 and 7mm rem mag. Very accurate and handle beautifully. Very quick and easy to change barrels. I find the felt recoil not that bad on my 7mm. I plan on getting a barrel in either 223, 204 or 22-250, and a 12 gauge, 50 cal muzzle loader, and maybe a pistol length 357 mag. Maybe a 308 or something 30 cal. The barrels aren't that expensive but are getting hard to locate. The one thing I'm not too fond of is the extractor, not ejector on the encore. But with a little practice, the shots will come quicker.

Best Place to Buy??

I just bought one (my second one...I do like'em!) at Bass Pro Shops in Vaughn Mills for $679. I see that S.I.R. has them on their website for the same price. That's the blued/walnut configuration.

Great guns, I love the interchangeable barrel concept.

John
