Looking for load data for my revolvers and carbine. I have a new can of IMR4227 and would like to use it but cant find any load data for it. I shoot 250gr cast for cowboy shooting so about 850 fps is what I am looking for. Is this doable and if so any suggestions

Several years ago I loaded IMR 4227 for a Ruger Blackhawk using Hornady 250 grain XTP jacketed bullets.
The data came out of one of Hornady's manuals from the early 1990's.
The load I was building was never intended to be shot out of light framed single actions as it was pushing the performance level of a .44 Magnum.
Recoil was pretty stout as was muzzle flash.

If you have a heavy framed Blackhawk go ahead, but there's better powder choices for light loads using cast bullets.

Thanks ,just thought I would try the 4227 route as i have it and will not have much use for it. I will go back to the Unique or maybe try trail boss in the hope that it is cleaner

IMR data center prob has the data you are looking for but
I think cost wise 4227 is a bad choice 2+ X $$:(
it measures real good but is twice the weight per charge you could burn up that 1 lb with a single visit to the range on a fun filled day w:h::sniper:

IMR doesn't list the powder for 45Colt, probably for the reasons you state.

Take Care
