Looking at loading .44mag with 700x (as I have lots of it). I have Speer 240gr JSP, WIn 240gr HSP & 210 STHP bullets. Any recommendations?

Regards,

You are going to be very limited with what you can do with 700X. It is a very fast powder, in the range of Clays and Bullseye. All it is going to give you is the equivalent of light target loads for the 44 Mag.

Definitely stick with lighter bullets, and look for Cowboy Action loads using that powder.

The powder is not really fast enough to get velocities up to where you need jacketed bullets.

At 8 grains per load, one pound of powder will load 875 cartridges.

44mag powder is not that expensive.

700X is a terrific powder. If you want to shoot medium loads or medium lead loads in a 44mag revolver then 700X will work.
Good in 45acp and 44special too.
700X is not suitable for magnum loads. The pressure curve is way too fast, and in order to achieve the full potential of the always superb 44mag cartridge, you would have to exceed all the listed powder recommendations. Don't do it.
Obtain some slow burning powder for the 44mag., save the 700X for lower pressure loads.

700X was quite dirty when I used it last... I been using Bullseye, W231, and tite group in my 44 mag, bullseye seems to be the cleanest, i have not shot any tite group just loaded some up to try.

Ive used 700X in light target loads in my 44 before. Its OK,but I got alot of unburnt powder.700X(moreso with 800X),also doesnt meter very consistently with light loads and there were very wide velocity variations

Ive been using Tightgroup recently in my 44 for light loads and that works very well for me,great accuracy and clean burning
