Is anybody having any good results from loading IMR8208 in the 308 with 168gr. bullets? Already tried Varget and didn't care for it,had better results from H380.

Sorry guys if I wasn't clear ,I'm not looking to change bullets and I didn't say Varget doesn't work, but for my own reasons I don't like it.It's been my experience reloaders are allways tinkering with new powders and products and considering the build up 8208 got when introduced the 308 was one of the calibers it was suppost to work well in.Is anybody using it and having good results?

I've been running imr 4895 (46.4 gr) with a hornady a max 155 gr bullet, ive been getting pretty good acuraccy and been averaging about 2855fps

I've always used 180gr SMK's with Varget giving me .250 MOA groups with both 42.3 and 42.7 gr.
These loads are over maximum published loads so approach with caution.

For comparison 175gr Federal Gold Medal Match is 2,600 FPS.

Since I have 10Lbs of IMR 8208 (XBR) and 500 168gr SMK's I will develop loads with both Varget and XBR to compare accuracy and velocity.
This will not be done overnight but I will start a new thread when the results are in.
This will probably be in 3-4 weeks.

I have had my best results using xbr 8208 with the 168 at 42.5 gr coal 2.8 it printed a group at 350 yards that measured well under an inch and always under an inch at 100 yards just recently I loaded up some 150 serria game king bullets at 42.5 gr 8208 and shot a group at 1.25 with a norinco m305 it was a bug hole group with one flyer pushing the group out to the 1.25 the gun usually shoots 2-4 MOA with other hand loads I have tried
