I’m asking this question out of curiosity. Hopefully someone knows…

Most IMR powders are manufactured in Valleyfield, Quebec for Hodgson Powder Company of Kansas City, Kansas.

If Trump’s tariffs come into effect, will IMR powders be U.S. tariff free because they are actually manufactured in Canada? This is how it should be but I suspect it won’t be this way.

If IMR powders are free from U.S tariffs then I suppose they will get caught up in Tudeaus counter-tariff plans for sporting goods?

Either way, we sure don’t seem to have greater access to IMR powders theses days.

Just curious.

I really miss the good ol days of IMR powder overruns and buying kegs of it. Canada Ammo had overruns and sold it as Dominion powder not that many years ago. I could use another couple of hundred pounds of it! :)

Anyways, I don't really have an answer to your question but you would think if it stayed on this side of the border from manufacture to retail sale there should be no tariff.

Hodgdon will pay the tariff when they import it into the USA to package, label, and warehouse it. The tariff will be added to the cost when Hodgdon sells the powders to their client retailers, which includes Canadians. So the bad news is we will pay the tariff, but the good news is the % will be applied to the wholesale cost, we shouldn't have to pay it on the marked up price of the packaged product.

Uh, what? Increased wholesale cost means increased retail prices.

Trump will add 25%, Hornady will repackage it in canisters. Your LGS will import it from the US. Trudeau will add a counter tariff of 25% and you will pay 50% more than before.

That's how I see it with IMR powder made in Kanuckikstan then shipped to the evil overlords to verify that it has a label then back to us from the US who bought us because we/us have sold our military out. Sorry Bourbon speak... Cheers

Parent company, Dominion, WW2 major supplier of gun powder in NA. Improved Military Rifle, IMR. Sold to General Dynamics a US company. They now sell exclusively to the civilian market through Hodgdon. Just another socialist phoo sho
