Recently, I got an 8LB keg of IMR8308XBR powder and was wondering if anyone had tried this powder in an M1 Garand. The burn rate is just slightly faster than H4895 which I've used for many years. Unfortunately, IMR/H4895 seems to be very hard to get nowadays. Hodgdon's reloading website does nor list this powder for the M1. If anyone had any experience with this powder in an M1, I would appreciate any info.

Good powder, probably not a good choice for M1.

Have to be careful with M1, lots of info on net about pressures and op rod.

They do make an adjustable gas plug for M1 that would be a good idea if you want to play with it.

I've used 8208 in 223 260 and 308 with good results. I was using book data for 30-06 and using the same primers as with the 260 and 308 and had hang fires. Switched powder only in the 30-06 and never had another hang fire. I'm not saying don't try or use it I was just answering the question asked with my results.
