IN DEPTH Picture heavy 10/22 trigger assembly guide!

I found that many people are afraid to take apart there 10/22 triggers. Hopefully this should help! I am going to try to be as specific as I can be, if people like this I will add it to my tips and tricks thread. NOW! Here.... We....

GO!

PART 1:
These are all the pieces you will require to completely reassemble your trigger group


Part 2:
These are the parts you will need to assemble the actual trigger.


Now, place the spring into the seer


Now take the trigger, the smallest pin and the smaller bar (dont know what its called) and have the hook on it facing down and put the pin through it


Take the seer with the spring and put it into the dimple of the other piece, you know you are in the right place since the holes on the trigger match the holes on the seer. Due note there is NO pin through this at the time.


PART 3:
Put the trigger plunger and plunger spring into the trigger housing


Now the trickiest part of the entire reassembly, holding the trigger without the pin through it, putting it in the housing with the medium sized pin, and pushing it through without it falling apart.


This is the hole that you will push the trigger pin through, it is easier to put a bit of pressure on the seer spring from above to accomplish this.


PART 4:
These are the parts you will need for the magazine realize


Now take the spring, place it on the magazine holding plunger and push it into the hole


While holding the plunger in place as far as it will go in, now push in the mag release with the round side going against the rounded plunger


You can release the plunger and it should hold in the mag release fairly well. Now put in your bolt hold open like so.


Now take the other medium sized pin and push it through the housing, mag release, bolt hold open, and back into the other side of the housing.


PART 5:
This is were peoples trigger assemblies may slightly vary. My hammer has shims around it, while the newer cheaper (polymer styled trigger groups) have the shims built into the hammer. These are the parts you will need to put the hammer into the housing.


Take the shims and put them onto the hammer


Right before the hammer goes into the housing, put the spring on the right side of the hammer shim, with the tapered leg at the bottom facing in. Push the hammer into the trigger housing.


While holding the hammer in place, push the large sized pin through this hole


PART 6:
These are the parts you will need for the final step


Take the pin and push it in slightly, put the extractor in and push the pin through it but not all the way.


This part will require two hands and is difficult to simulate while taking pictures as well. Push the spring thats attached to the hammer shim down and proceed to push the pin on the extractor all the way through into the rest of the housing. (the spring is under the rod.


PART 7:
Pull the trigger and move the hammer forward, now take the hammer spring.


Place the hammer spring with the plate into the back slot of the trigger housing and the round tip into the slot of the hammer.


Now pull the hammer back into place until you hear it click.

PART 8:
Bask in the glory of your reassembled 10/22 trigger group, it was not that difficult now was it!?

Thats right, use a short pin to hold the trigger/sear together, then push it out with the fullsize pin when installing.

I heard those are a real pain to put back in, and most avoid removing them as it's not usually necessary. But something tells me that a man with your number of posts and experience already knows that, and is just being cheeky!

I will get pics up of the safety removal as requested. It is another pin, spring, and the actual safety. Most people do not remove it unless they put an extended/oversized one in.

A fine tutorial. the safey comes out easy, just turn and push. getting it back in is a little trickier. Its also worth mentioning to do all of this in a plastic bag so you don't lose small parts and springs. It took me a long time to find a sear spring once.

The "smaller bar" that works with the sear in the trigger is called the disconnector. You should also note that the hammer spring is held onto the assembly with a small u-shaped clip. The slot in this clip should point up when you place the assembly into the hole.
